Meet the dynamic drumming titan, Matthew David Cameron – a San Diego-born drumming legend with roots in the heart of Seattle's rock scene! Known for his jaw-dropping talent with the sticks, Cameron has graced the stages and studios of some of the biggest rock bands to emerge from the Evergreen State: Soundgarden and Pearl Jam. In 1986, he stormed into Soundgarden's ranks and became an integral part of their discography, recording on every one of their studio albums. Fast forward to 1998, and after Soundgarden's initial breakup, Cameron made a lasting impression with Pearl Jam, joining up and staying with the band until mid-2025, when he announced his departure. Following Soundgarden's reunion in 2010, the drumming powerhouse held down the rhythm beat for both iconic bands simultaneously – an incredible feat in the world of music. He remained with Soundgarden until their second breakup following the tragic loss of lead vocalist Chris Cornell in 2017. beyond his work with Soundgarden and Pearl Jam, Cameron has been a member of Temple of the Dog (alongside his fellow bandmates), and lent his skills to various side projects such as Nighttime Boogie Association, Hater, and Wellwater Conspiracy, even leading the latter band as the lead vocalist. Before his Soundgarden days, Cameron honed his craft as a drummer in the Seattle rock outfits Bam Bam and Skin Yard. In 2016, Rolling Stone placed Cameron 52nd on their list of the "100 Greatest Drummers of All Time." Since then, this unstoppable drumming maestro has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice – once in 2017 with Pearl Jam, and again with Soundgarden in 2025.
