Tell me a short, interesting fact about

The Roman Empire was so large that it was virtually impossible for an emperor to keep in touch with all its territories. To help manage the vast empire, the Roman senate created a system of provincial governors. A fascinating example of this is the case of Petronius, a governor of the province of Bithynia-Pontus in present-day Turkey. Petronius, also known as Petronius Arbiter, was an author and wit who written the Satyricon, a famous work from the classical Latin literature. His reign, however, was filled with controversy and excess, earning him the wrath of Nero, who sent him a "coat adorned with sewn-up purse" as a symbol to kill himself, a form of execution known as a "toga b clubs supra" or "togaly flogging". Petronius chose to die with a mock feast and philosophical discussion instead.
